The Frogwise Standard

How we decide what to recommend

Éditorial Frogwise · 6 min read · Révisé le 2026-08-01

Most review sites tell you what to buy. Very few tell you why, or what they weighed against what.

The Frogwise Standard is our attempt to make that reasoning visible. Every product and every business we assess is scored across seven criteria, each from 0 to 10.

Santé

What the thing is made from, what it emits, and what is known about exposure over time. We favour materials with published emissions testing.

Impact environnemental

Raw materials, manufacturing energy, transport, and end of life. We look for measured data, not intentions.

Durabilité

How long it stays useful in ordinary family conditions. Warranty length is evidence, not proof.

Réparabilité

Are spare parts sold? Can it be opened without destroying it? Is there documentation?

Éthique

Labour conditions, supplier relationships, and how a company behaves when nobody is watching.

Transparence

How much a company publishes without being asked. Silence scores badly.

Rapport qualité-prix

Cost across the expected life of the thing, not the price on the shelf.

We publish the score, the notes behind it, and the sources. When we are unsure, we say so. When we get it wrong, we correct it and date the correction.

Questions fréquentes

Do brands pay to be assessed?
No. Assessment is never paid for, and sponsorship is labelled wherever it appears.
How often are scores reviewed?
At least annually, and immediately when a product changes materially.
