The Frogwise Standard

Most review sites tell you what to buy. We would rather tell you why — and let you disagree with us. Every product and business we assess is scored out of ten across the same seven criteria, with the reasoning published alongside the number.

  1. 01

    Health

Materials, emissions and exposure risk in everyday use — including what happens as a thing ages.

  2. 02

    Environmental impact

Raw materials, production, transport, and what happens at end of life.

  3. 03

    Durability

How long it lasts under normal use, and under careless use with children in the house.

  4. 04

    Repairability

Availability of spare parts, published documentation, and whether repair is realistic.

  5. 05

    Ethics

Labour conditions and treatment of people across the supply chain.

  6. 06

    Transparency

What the maker publishes, what is independently verified, and what stays unanswered.

  7. 07

    Value for money

Cost measured against expected lifespan, not sticker price.

What a score is not

A score is not a certification, and it is not permanent. Assessments carry the date they were made and are revisited as materials, ownership and evidence change. Where we cannot verify something, the criterion is left unassessed rather than guessed.
